2017 College Tour

In October 2017, The College Gurl Foundation provided 22 Washington, D.C. Public School (DCPS) students an opportunity to attend an all-expense paid college tour to institutions in Atlanta, North Carolina, and South Carolina. We targeted students from high schools within Washington, D.C. that had lower than 70% graduation rate to empower students to complete and achieve all of their educational goals. Through sponsors and private donors, we raised $10,000 in 30 days to make this possible. This effort connected students with different colleges, careers, locations, and mentoring opportunities. Because of the tour's impact, students now want to attend colleges outside of the DMV, network with others, and inspire their classmates to seek their college education.
